Gusty gusts

Hunter and I planned to go to Wilmington again after our last attempt was foiled by a nose strut problem. This time we had gusty winds to deal with. It was a beautiful day for land-based creatures, but the winds forecast was not favorable and was expected to get worse. We decided to skip the flight to Wilmington but went ahead and took a couple laps in the pattern. Hunter’s first landing wasn’t pretty. The second was much better, but the wind had him working hard. We started to fly to Siler City, but after climbing out and hearing the current winds at Sanford worsen, we decided to scrap that idea. Landing a 152 in a 15-knot crosswind is not something we wanted to tackle.
